In a surprising move, Google has agreed to remove search references to a website, depicting Australian Aborigines in a racist and abhorrent fashion.
While this move is something we can all applaud, it’s ‘surprising’ because, for years, Google has refused to do this very thing about any anti-Semitic websites. Well known anti-Jewish websites still rank very high, if not the highest, when words such as “Jew” are searched through the search giant.
Google have always claimed that remove anti-Semitic sites would not only damage the objectivity of their searching system but would open a Pandora’s box of similar complaints.
One wonders how Google will continue to maintain that stance, given the above.
