A senior diplomat, at the British Foreign Office, was arrested during the Israel-Gaza conflict in a public gym, when he went on an anti-Semitic tirade, screaming “f—ing Jews”, while he worked out in the gym. Despite several other people in the gym asking him to stop or calm down, he continued until police arrived and arrested him.

Rowan Laxton, the 47 year old Middle Eastern expert, who provides advice to the UK’s foreign minister and ministry, apparently lost control when a news report came on the gym TV showing some of the Gaza conflict.

Laxton, repeatedly screamed about “greedy Jews” and “Israeli murderers” and also ranted that Israel should be wiped off the map. Ironically, despite his rant about Jews and money, his ex-wife is an Arab banker. He has spent time for the British Foreign Office working in both Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The British government has not taken any action against Mr Laxton and he retains his 70,000 pound a year position.
